Artist Statement

Mary Perrin is a visual artist working in collage, photomontage, artist books, performance art and painting. She has artwork in the National Museum of Women in the Arts, the Ogden Museum of Southern Art, and the Louisiana State Museum. Currently she is working in what is a new medium for her, scherenschnitt , or 'scissor cuts' in German, the art of paper cutting design.
Specialties:
Artwork based on several themes including femininity and family, storm stories and other environmental issues. Music often informs the work, especially the Cajun and Zydeco music of southern Louisiana.
