Artist Statement

Art is best when worn - a guiding philosophy in creating our hand-marbled wearables. Our goal is that patrons who wear our art feel emotionally connected to the beautiful, natural world that surrounds us. Our marbling technique allows us to capture those moments of beauty that nature shares with us.

Each wearable item we create begins as a white piece of fiber. We float paints on a liquid in a large tray and rake and comb the floating paints into a pattern. We lay a piece of fiber on top of the floating pattern to create an original textile. We then cut and sew the marbled fabric into one-of-a-kind garments. Each garment is an original piece of art.

Paul and Susan Marling began their new life together as artists 18 years ago. Paul was an avid landscape photographer with a keen eye for color and how patterns interacted in nature. Susan's love of textiles began as a child when she learned how to sew by watching and helping her mother make her clothes.

Paul and Susan complete all stages of their marbled wearables in their home studio in Acworth, GA. They create and sell their wearables at art shows across the country and in many fine craft galleries.
