Clay / Lafayette, LA
My pottery is mostly wheel thrown, but some is hand built from commercially obtained stoneware clay. It is allowed to air dry, kiln fired to a bisque slate, glazed, and finally kiln fired to cone 6. When it is unloaded from the kiln with much anticipation and joy, it is ready to use. My pottery is safe for cooking, I only use food safe glazes. My pottery is not only functional, but a pleasure to enjoy everyday.
I am a registered nurse that loves pottery. I was fascinated an inspired watching my dear friend Anita in her studio throwing and hand building for several years. I then had the opportunity to start taking lessons from her in 2004, and finally had the joy of obtaining my own wheel in 2006.
