Glass / Quitman, Louisiana

Artist Statement

I love working with different types of glass - stained, fused, and flame worked. Lately, I have been experimenting with the combination of the three processes into one art piece. Most of the imagery I create with my glass art is of sea creatures. The glass seems to lend itself to the fluidity of sea creatures in my imagination.

I am a lifelong resident of Louisiana. I graduated with a MA in Arts from NSULA in Spring 2016. I achieved a BFA from NSULA in May 2014. I work part time at Ed's Emporium Stained Glass and Fusing Studio in Bossier City. I have attended Penland School of Crafts in North Carolina three times for workshops on work-study scholarships. The first was a two week cast glass with Rick Beck, the second was a two month intensive concentration flame worked glass with Joe Peters, and the third was a one week glass layers with powdered glass images with Michael Janis.
I was married for almost thirty-one years to my husband, Mark, until he was killed in an accident in 2009. I have three children, nine grandchildren, three step-grandchildren,and one step-grandchild.
