Artist's Statement: beading - I create artistic jewelry using seed beads as my paint, a needle and thread as my brush and individuals as the canvas. I use a variety of stitches creating my designs, which are one of a kind. The pattern reflects my thinking as i bead and i am never sure as to how it will look until after it is completed.
My creations evolve one bead at a time. I do not use looms or other types of aids. Many of my pieces are accented with pearls, crystals, and semi-precious stones. I frequently use decorative buttons as clasps.

Artist Biography:
I started beading when i was on the death side of 60. When i saw the endless array of colors and hues of seed beads i just knew that i had to create beautiful works of art with them.
Ever since i can remember i was helping my mother with hems, quilt pieces, and sewing buttons. I also learned how to embroidery at an early age, as was expected of little girls in my generation. There was always something to decorate with sequins and other adornments.
After raising six sons i was excited to be able to make heirloom dresses for my grandaughters, but as they grew and moved beyond "fancy" i was introducedd to seed beads and the rest is history.
I belong to the Baton Rouge Arts Council, New Orleans Arts Market, Northshore Arts Market, Louisiana Crafts Guild, and Mississippi Craftsmen's Guild as well as participating in many shows in the central south area.
I have received many awards including best in show, award of distinction, and best emerging artist, I have recently had my work published in Bead and Button Magazine.
